The Solar Centre was established in 2004 and was purchased by Craig McJannet in 2011. Since assuming ownership, McJannet has concentrated on promoting his unique line of products and building ties with the construction industry.
When Craig McJannet asks what he can do to brighten your day it’s more than a clever play on words.
That’s because he believes firmly in the products he sells and the impact they have on his customer’s lives.
“I love helping people solve problems especially ones they had no idea could be solved,” he said. “What could be better than bringing daylight to a once dark room or creating airflow in a once stuffy attic.”
Craig is an Alberta boy who spent his first 25 years in Edmonton and the next 12 in Calgary, where he established Hi-Tech Seals, a seal distributor. In 2010, he relocated to Kelowna and purchased Solar Centre.
Craig is passionate about what he does and says his wife is his best customer. So far, she’s had him install four solatubes, one attic fan, two screen doors, and numerous blinds.
As the saying goes, “Happy Wife, Happy Life.”
Jeff Marko has been with Solar Centre since 2005 and says the thing he likes most about the job is bringing natural sunshine into people’s lives. That and “coddling his boss’s ego.”
Jeff’s responsibilities include everything from receiving to sales and scheduling installations. In his spare time, he enjoys baseball, hockey, biking, and reading.
When not installing solatubes, Randy can be found volunteering at the pool or training for his next triathlon. He’s good at it too! In 2012, Randy qualified for the world championships with a time of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Jason is a red seal journeyman carpenter and a part time installer at the Solar Centre.
The Kelowna-born handyman says he enjoys working for a company that is genuinely interested in making customers happy. He also appreciates having a flexible schedule that allows him to continue working in the construction industry part time.
Jason recently completed his Bachelor of Education and hopes to work as a high school shop teacher one day. His hobbies include hockey, soccer, waterskiing, snowboarding, hunting, and riding his quad.
Greg moved to Kelowna in the fall of 2011 and is busily working on his retirement. In addition to helping out the Solar Centre, Greg is a member of the West Side Rotary Club and on the Strata Board at Sonoma Pines. When they are not travelling, Greg enjoys being on lake Okanagan with his partner Monica, either kayaking or cruising around on his jet ski.
